Millennium Bridge

Spanning the River Thames in London, The Millennium Bridge is a pedestrian footbridge linking Bankside, close to St Paul’s Cathedral, to the southern side of the Thames in front of the Tate Modern and nearby Globe Theatre.

The bridge opened in June 2000 but it immediately became apparent that it was vibrating significantly whilst in use. The ensuing engineering headache closed the bridge for 2 years whilst the wobble was corrected.

    London’s brief stillness in the minutes after rush hour has ended before the evening’s activity truly begins. The panorama takes in most of London’s major landmarks from The Shard to Canary Wharf, The City of London with St Paul’s Cathedral, with the Thames dividing the city and the Tate Tower bisecting the image.
