National Gallery
With over five million visitors each year the National Gallery is one of the most popular art museums in the world. Founded in 1824, the collection was housed in various locations before finding its permanent home in London’s Trafalgar Square in 1837. Only the façade of the original building designed by William Wilkins remains as its been constantly extended and adapted over the years.
