Nelsons Column

Commemorating Admiral Horatio Nelson, Nelson’s Column stands in the centre of Trafalgar Square, London. Designed by William Railton and constructed between 1840-1843 with the addition of the famous Landseer Lions at the base of the monument in 1867. During restoration work in 2006 it was discovered that the column was 16 feet shorter than thought, standing at 169 feet tall.
