South Bank
The South Bank is a very popular tourist area located by the River Thames in central London. Following a period of industrial use, the opening of County Hall in 1922 heralded a new era for the South Bank as an area of recreation. The 1951 Festival of Britain further cemented the areas reputation for arts and entertainment. Walking along The Queen’s Walk promenade on the South Bank takes you past many of the its attractions and landmarks, The London Eye, National Theatre, Royal Festival Hall, London Aquarium and Queen Elizabeth Hall, a fine example of Brutalist Architecture.
